Useful information

Ecole Moderne offers intensive French courses for non-French speaking adults and youngsters. They are taught by highly qualified, experienced native French speaking teachers.

5 levels from beginner to upper-intermediate. (A1-B2)

Small groups are made up of students according to their level, based on a free assessment test.  

Small groups = quick progress

The methods used are specific to the teaching of French as a Foreign Language (F.L.E.)

All aspects are covered: vocabulary-conjugation-grammar-phonetics-editing- spelling - comprehension of texts, newspaper articles -conversation - French and Swiss civilization and culture.

Ecole Moderne prepares students for the Diplôme d'Etudes en Langue Française (DELF) exams. These diplomas certify the knowledge of written and spoken French written and spoken at different levels. They are recognized in all countries and bear the signature of the French Ministry of National Education. Ecole Modern has a DELF success rate of 94%.

Course timetables:

Level A1, A2, B1, B2: Monday to Friday from 8.45am to 11.45am (September).

Beginner level A1: Monday to Friday from 2pm to 5pm (January). A2, B1, B2: Monday to Friday from 8.45am to 11.45am (January).

(According to the scale defined by the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages).

- Possibility to do the course from September to June or for a shorter period.

- Possibility to start the course during the year (individual remedial courses are set up if necessary).

- We can adapt your course to (3 or 4 days a week depending on your availability).

- Ecole Moderne follows the Geneva school holiday calendar.

Comment se déroule l'Évaluation de langue fide ?

Les tâches de l’évaluation de français fide se rapportent à des situations que vous pouvez rencontrer dans la vie de tous les jours en Suisse, par exemple comprendre une circulaire de la régie immobilière ou une lettre des autorités, parler avec l'employé au guichet ou avec l'enseignante de votre enfant ou remplir un formulaire.

Les compétences orales et écrites sont évaluées séparément puisque l'évaluation se compose de 2 parties :

  1. « Parler et comprendre » (40 minutes) L'épreuve " Parler et comprendre"
  2. « Lire et écrire » (60 minutes) L'épreuve "Lire et écrire"

(NB: Vous recevrez votre convocation le lendemain de la date limite d'inscription. Il n'est pas possible de réserver un jour ou une heure spécifiques pour votre examen.)

Les personnes qui ne savent pas lire et écrire, ou seulement très peu, peuvent aussi participer seulement à la partie « Parler et comprendre ».

A l’évaluation de langue fide, le résultat s'exprime par l’indication du niveau A1, A2 ou B1 que vous avez atteint selon vos capacités.

Veuillez prévoir 4 à 5 semaines après la date de l'écrit pour recevoir vos résultats.

Comment s'inscrire à l'Evaluation de français fide ?

Choisissez votre session dans le calendrier et inscrivez-vous en ligne.

Conditions d'inscription

1. Une confirmation d'inscription à l'Evaluation de langue fide sera envoyée à chaque participant au plus tard 2 semaines avant la date de l'évaluation.

2. Sur demande une facture du montant des frais d'inscription à l'Evaluation de langue fide sera envoyée postale ou par courriel à l'adresse indiquée par le participant.

3. Les frais d'inscription à l'Evaluation de langue fide doivent être réglés avant la première date de l'examen.

4. Le participant recevra une convocation à l'Évaluation de langue fide indiquant les dates et horaires précis de l'évaluation une fois que les inscriptions pour la session seront closes.

5. Toute annulation, formulée par écrit à l'administration de l'école au plus tard le jour de la date limite d'inscription permettra de donner lieu au remboursement des frais d'inscription avec une retenue de CHF 50.- pour frais administratifs.

6. En cas d'annulation reçue après ce délai et jusqu’à la veille de la première date de l'évaluation, le centre remboursera le montant de l'inscription mais retiendra la somme de CHF 125.-  correspondant aux frais d'annulation tardive.

7. En cas d'annulation ou d'absence le jour de l'évaluation, aucun remboursement ne pourra être effectué.

8. En cas de non-réception par l'école du paiement des frais d'examen à la date de votre première épreuve, l'école se réserve le droit de ne pas vous accepter à l’examen.

1. L’évaluation de langue fide

1.1 Avec l’évaluation de langue fide, il est possible d’attester les compétences linguistiques orales et écrites aux niveaux A1 – B1 dans les langues nationales suisses français, allemand et italien.

1.2 Après avoir effectué l’évaluation de langue fide, les participantes et participants reçoivent le passeport des langues. Le passeport des langues indique le niveau atteint à l'oral et à l’écrit.

1.3 Ce règlement contient les dispositions concernant la participation à l’évaluation de langue fide.

1.4 En outre, les conditions générales des centres d’évaluation fide s’appliquent.

2.     Inscription

2.1 Dès 16 ans, toutes les personnes peuvent participer à l’évaluation de langue fide, indépendamment de leur statut de séjour.

2.2 Toutes les personnes atteintes d'un handicap peuvent participer à l’évaluation de langue fide. Des dispositions particulières sont prévues.

2.3 Pour participer, il faut s'inscrire auprès d'un centre d’évaluation accrédité.

2.4 Il est possible de s’inscrire à l’évaluation de langue complète, ou uniquement à l’examen oral, ou uniquement à l’examen écrit.

2.5 Par son inscription, la participante ou le participant autorise le centre d’évaluation fide à transmettre les données personnelles nécessaires à l’évaluation de langue fide, ainsi qu’à l’établissement du passeport des langues.

2.6 Il est nécessaire de s'inscrire au plus tard 4 semaines avant la date de tenue de l’évaluation.

2.7 Le centre d’évaluation fide peut exiger le paiement d'une taxe, si la participante ou le participant annule son inscription ou ne se présente pas le jour de l’évaluation.

3. Participation

3.1 Les participantes et participants doivent se présenter au centre d’évaluation fide à l'horaire et à la date de passation indiqués et doivent apporter une pièce d'identité avec photo à l'évaluation de langue. Evaluation de langue fide Règlement de participation à l’évaluation de langue fide

3.2 Les personnes qui – utilisent des aides non autorisées (comme un dictionnaire ou un téléphone portable) ; ou – dérangent d’autres participantes et participants ; ou – arrivent en retard ; ou – n'apportent pas de pièce d'identité avec photo seront exclues de l’évaluation de langue fide.

3.3 Les personnes exclues de l’évaluation fide ne reçoivent pas la taxe de participation en retour.

4. Résultats

4.1 Pour la partie orale, des interlocutrices ou interlocuteurs fide licenciés évaluent les prestations des participantes et participants.

4.2 Pour la partie écrite, les résultats sont évalués de manière centralisée par des expertes ou des experts du Secrétariat fide.

4.3 Les participantes et participants reçoivent les résultats au plus tard quatre semaines après la date de l’évaluation de langue fide.

4.4 Les participantes et participants reçoivent un passeport des langues s’ils/elles ont atteint au moins le niveau A1 au moins dans une partie de l’évaluation de langue fide. Sur le passeport des langues, les compétences linguistiques orales et écrites démontrées sont attestées par A1, A2 ou B1.

5. Consultation des documents et recours

5.1 Les participantes et participants peuvent demander à consulter les documents d'examen jusqu'à 30 jours après la réception des résultats. La demande doit être présentée par écrit au Secrétariat fide. Les participantes et participants ainsi que leurs éventuels représentants légaux peuvent ensuite consulter le matériel d'examen en présence d’une surveillante ou d'un surveillant. Le Secrétariat fide fixe le lieu et la date de la consultation. Effectuer des copies des exercices de l'examen (sous forme de photocopie, photo ou transcription) est interdit.

5.2 Une participante ou un participant a jusqu’à 40 jours après la réception des résultats pour déposer un recours. Le recours doit être motivé et contenir une demande. Il est gratuit. Evaluation de langue fide Règlement de participation à l’évaluation de langue fide 4 | 4 11. 2. 2019 Un recours peut être déposé si l'examen ne s'est pas déroulé correctement et conformément au règlement. Un recours ne peut remettre en question l'évaluation des expertes et experts.

5.3 Le Secrétariat fide statue en première instance sur les recours Si le recours est accepté, le participant peut répéter l'examen gratuitement.

5.4 Dans les 30 jours après sa communication, la décision du Secrétariat fide peut faire l'objet d’un recours en deuxième instance auprès de la Commission qualité fide. Le recours doit être motivé et contenir une demande. Il est gratuit. La décision de la Commission qualité fide est définitive.

6. Répétition de l’évaluation de langue

6.1 Il est possible de répéter l’évaluation de langue fide complète, ou séparément la partie orale ou la partie écrite, aussi souvent que souhaité. Il faut chaque fois payer la taxe de participation.

6.2 Suite à une répétition, un nouveau passeport des langues est établi avec les niveaux de langue atteints.

A visa application needs to be submitted from a Swiss representation in your country before coming to Geneva. 

List of the documentsto be provided: 

·     P, E and O forms, completed, dated and signed

·     Colorcopy of passport

·     Certificateof enrolment and certificate of admissibility in the school, mentioning the       study plan (including the weekly number of hours, thetimetable, the total length of       studies, the program and the topics)

·     Fully complete curriculum vitae as well as a motivation letter

·     Written commitment to leave Switzerland

·     Proof of financial means

·     Copy of the renting contract or written attestation from the accommodation provider

·     Internshipor paid employment in view
